A silent prayer. “God, it would be great if I got my pathology results back while Aaron is here doing work at my office.”
A half hour later - a notification on my phone that I had a new result on the MyChart App.
Inhale, exhale. I open up the app to see the results.
Right axillary sentinel lymph node excision: Four lymph nodes - negative for metastatic carcinoma.
Right breast localized lumpectomy: no residual invasive carcinoma identified.
Right axillary sentinel lymph node excision: One lymph node - negative for metastatic carcinoma.
Aaron and I rejoice together!!!
Dr. Brenda calls and leaves a voicemail a few hours later. It is confirmed.
I AM CANCER FREE
One chapter of this cancer journey has been written, now on to the next chapter. Monday I meet with my medical oncologist and start my “maintenance chemo.” I know it will be every three weeks, but I’m not sure how many rounds. I have been told this time I won’t be sick and my hair will even begin to grow back. I will start radiation in the next month or so, but I’m not sure how long that will last, somewhere between 4-6 weeks.
Let’s rejoice! God is good!
